SOUTH COAST AGILITY TEAM

MEMBERSHIP

We are the "South Coast Agility Team," also known as "SCAT." We are an agility club based in Orange County, California. Although we are not a professional trainer's group and do not offer classes, we hold practice sessions so members can work with their own dogs at their own pace.

We are doing our best to bring practices back to Orange County on a regular basis. Please verify with the Events schedule for a list of activities.

To become a member you must first take a beginning agility class. This could be through your local Parks and Recreation, one of the trainers listed on our links page or through any other legitimate agility program. After you and your dog pass your class, email the SCAT Membership Director for an application and to arrange for a proficiency test at one of the SCAT practices. Your dog must be able to perform all obstacles safely.

Membership is $20 per year for individuals or $25 a year for a family. Members must help unload and set up or stay to break down and load equipment back into the trailer for each practice session in which they participate.

SCAT currently hosts 3 agility trials each year - 2-AKC and 1-NADAC or CPE. One of the reasons our trials are successful is because of our membership and their participation in running the trial. If you are a SCAT member and plan on competing at one of our trials, you will be required to work the trial. A volunteer coordinator will schedule your jobs based on the classes in which you will be trialing and your level of experience.

It's always recommended, but not required, that you work a trial before you compete in order to get a better feel for how they are run. We try to make SCAT trials an enjoyable experience for each exhibitor, and it's your responsibility as a member to pitch in and help where you can to ensure each trial runs smoothly!
